Two second year students on the BTEC National Diploma Graphic Design, Michael Acain (17) and Paul Robinson (20) have designed the cover for The Isle of Wight College’s new full time courses prospectus.
Michael and Paul took typical student pictures and applied an Andy Warhol style to them. Using Photoshop software, with multiple layers and filters, each student manipulated the images to achieve the desired effect. The four images, two by Michael and two by Paul were presented to the Marketing Team who incorporated them into the front cover design.
Martin Farrell, the college’s Graphic Designer said “Both students were keen to try their hand manipulating images to give a Warhol-type effect . The standard of their work was so good I suggested using their images for the prospectus front cover. The prospectus is the college’s main promotional publication and the cover design influenced the design of the internal pages. 7000 brochures have been published.”
Paul said “This was a fantastic opportunity and has given me something of real value to include in my UCAS application. It is great to see my work in print”.
