The Isle of Wight College has just completed a very successful Charles de Gaulle students exchange, sponsored by the British Council.

Students and teachers from Maison Familiale Rurale (MFR) Ste Florine Health and Social Care programme spent one week in the College Health and Social Care Department comparing education systems and care services in the community.

They visited St Mary’s Hospital, the hospice, Age UK, Bembridge Lifeboat Station and the fire station and their vist culimated in a game of lazerquest and bowling.  Our students and teachers from Health and Social Care and Catering then visited MFR Ste Florine to continue the project visting the local fire station, hospital and cheese and chocolate factories.

They discussed the care system in France and also met the Mayor. During each leg of the exchange they learnt about each other’s cultures and developed their teamwork skills. We hope to continue the relationship with MFR Ste Florine next year.
