Children looked after and care leavers have a named advisor they can contact at college for help.

This is the college safeguarding and student advocacy lead. This member of staff will attend meetings with respect to students who are looked after or care leavers as appropriate to provide support to the young person and share information.

The named member of staff supports these students with all aspects of college life and, as necessary, may direct them to appropriate external support services. In addition to the named support for children looked after and care leavers, students have access to the team of college progress advisors, the college careers advisor and the college chaplain.

Throughout the year there are a variety of open days and activities which can help inform young people of the choice of programmes they can apply for at the college. The college website is also a great source of information.

Depending upon their age, students can apply for financial support from the college bursary fund. The bursary fund can help with the costs of travel, kit and equipment required for the course, meals whilst in college and some money paid termly or weekly depending upon the wishes of the student.

The college contact for looked after children and care leavers is Michelle Campbell, telephone number 01983 550754, email michelle.campbell@iwcollege.ac.uk
