Six female students on Public Services Level 3 Year 1 are the first learners from the group to complete their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Their final assessment involved planning and preparation of a 17Km hike with an overnight camp and a return hike the next day, carrying everything they would need in their backpacks. They planned the route, not using main roads, meals and equipment needed. To ensure a good assessment they did a practice first.

They started the hike from Tuckers Gate, Parkhurst and hiked to Chine Farm, Brighstone, arriving about 4pm, where they set up camp and cooked their evening meal.

Tiffany said “It was exhausting because if happened to be very hot weather, but there was a good team spirit and it was a lot of fun”.  “Next term we will start work on the Silver Award.”
