Art and Design is an exciting subject area of potential and continuing growth. Just look around you now, most things you can see, and use, have been designed.

Gain skills which are easily transferable to other disciplines, giving you the option for changes in careers. Our courses will help you to discover where your strengths lie and which aspects of art and design you are most suited to. Your tutors will guide and support you in compiling an impressive portfolio or work, and help you develop skills that employers want in their staff.

We have four course, including two new ones, in this area:

Level 2:  Art, Graphics and Media. This course has two pathways, Pathway 1, Art & Design, Pathway 2 Graphics & Media. Both pathways cover separate units, but they will work together on certain projects, to help students learn how to work in teams, something that all employers need their staff to do.

Level 3:  Art and Design:  This course offer you the chance to study different subjects such as Fine Art, Photography, Textiles, 3D, Illustration, Graphic Design.  It is for students that want a broad based course and for those who are not quite sure what subject they want to specialise in yet.

NEW COURSES

NEW! The Foundation Diploma in Art, Design and Media

This is a Level 3 / 4 course, for students who have studied A Level, a level 3 Diploma or who want to return to Art education to prepare for Higher Education or employment.

This course is broad and experimental.  It aims to develop your creative and critical thinking skills. It is for those students who may want to specialise in the following subjects:  Graphic Design, Digital Design, Multimedia, Photography, Textiles, Fine Art, 3D Design, Concept Art, Illustration, Architecture and Spatial Design

New! HND Creative Media and Technology

This Higher National Diploma is a new and exciting course that focuses both on the creative and technical side of digital media to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in creative sectors such as Animation, web and Film, and adapt to a constantly changing world.

All of our Art students will study in our impressive purpose-built facilities.

RESOURCES

Large well equipped Art and Design studio, textiles and print studio, 3D studio including ceramics.  Photographic darkroom, Mac suite with Adobe CC and Maya, The Media Production Studios feature the only working television studio on The Island, with professional lighting rigs, green screens and vision-mixing equipment and the facility to broadcast streams live to the internet.

Students have access to support for application to UCAS and employment. They also have the opportunity to take part in live projects and industry standard assignments.
