Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as a Marketing Apprentice for Windward Engineering.
Windward Engineering is an exciting new company based in rural Rookley on the Isle of Wight, whose business mission is harnessing low-density natural power and converting it into electricity. The company has developed a novel form of horizontal axis wind turbine (“HAWT”) which is configured specifically to capture low energy wind.
Rather excitingly, the business is rapidly growing with the variety of services and products they offer including IOT software– Internet of things, GIGA turbines and electronics design and production.
Windward Engineering are now looking for an ambitious and creative apprentice to join their small friendly team to assist in a variety of tasks including; managing the company’s social media and marketing activities whilst working towards a Marketing Apprenticeship qualification.
Tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Social media management
- Website content
- Inbound sales
- Marketing planning
Personal, Essential Qualities
- Well presented, reliable & punctual
- Good interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills
- Able to apply their own initiative
- Highly self-motivated
GCSE grade C or above in English, Maths and ICT (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills)
- Level 3 NVQ in Marketing
- Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT if required
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
- 30 hours per week
- Weekend work may be required to assist in various shows
- There is a requirement to complete 20% off the job training, regular College attendance will contribute towards this, but time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not your usual role will also be counted
- Apprenticeship duration will be 18-24 months
- Start date will be March 2019
- Starting at £3.70ph
In return, there will be the potential for progression for the right candidate as well as the potential for paid international travel, as the role and the business develops.
All apprentices are entitled to apply for a discounted bus pass, which provides a significant saving for travel. The number 3 bus stop is located right outside Windward Engineering.
The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified, there may be an opportunity to progress to a full time employment, depending on suitability / need.
