This is a unique opportunity to work as a Business Administration Apprentice for a well-established ventilation organisation in Newport.
Located on Riverway Industrial Estate in Newport, Ductwork Services (I.O.W.) Ltd is a leading innovative ventilation company.
As a contractor the services offered by the business include design, manufacture, installation and supply of:
- Extract Systems
- Heat Recovery
- Air Conditioning
Offering full UK coverage Ductwork Services (I.O.W.) Ltd has been established on the Isle of Wight since 2003 with senior management having over 30 years’ experience in ventilation, ductwork, heat recovery, air conditioning and CAD design.
Ductwork Services (I.O.W.) Ltd are proud to offer their professional in house CAD design studio services, well respected throughout the UK and used by many leading mechanical contractors and ducting contractors. Their department head is recognised as one of the leading respected draftsmen in this field.
In addition to their core business as ventilation engineers Ductwork Services (I.O.W.) Ltd provide commercial and industrial kitchen canopy and extract system cleaning /servicing including the replacement of fans, filters and grills.
To start with Ductwork Services are looking for someone to work in their office and carryout general office administration tasks with a view for the successful candidate to progress to Project managing in the longer term.
Apprentice Role and Responsibilities:
Initially they require the successful candidate to:
- Answer the phone and take messages
- Assist project engineers
- Type invoices and quotations
- Ordering material, bookings and general everyday office duties including using the computer and different systems
Looking to the future, they will be teaching all aspects of Ventilation work, such as drawing take offs, project pricing, project quotes, designing, CAD drawing, project managing.
Although this will mainly be office based, the business does work all over the island and UK so there will be site works/visits available to help with progression.

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English, IT & Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills)
- Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship
- Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT if required
- There is a requirement to complete 20% off the job training, this includes time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role
Monday – Friday
7.30am to 4.30pm (30 min lunch 2 x 15min morning and afternoon breaks)
40 hours per week
£3.90 per hour to start with
View to increase subject to progress
*The successful apprentice will also be entitled to a discounted Southern Vectis bus pass.
Apprenticeship duration will be around 12 – 18 months.
The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. Once qualified, there may be an opportunity to progress to a permanent role within the business as project manager, dependent on suitability and opportunity at that time.
