College Principal, Debbie Lavin has been made a CBE by HRH Queen Elizabeth II in a service held at Buckingham Palace. Ms Lavin, who was named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours was recognised for her services to education.
After the investiture and a brief conversation with the Queen, Ms Lavin returned to her seat next to Roxy Music frontman, Bryan Ferry who also received a CBE at the same ceremony.
Speaking after the investiture ceremony Ms Lavin, who has accompanied by her husband and son, said she was “absolutely thrilled”.
I am immensely proud but at the same time it’s overwhelming and humbling. I accepted this honour on behalf of my college – staff and students. It is about what we have achieved collectively.
