Horticulture and Countryside

Workers in this area are involved in looking after the countryside, forests, gardens and parks, and working with different types of plants and animals:

  • farming, fishing, forestry, countryside management, conservation, game keeping
  • landscape design and management, gardening, tree surgery, horticulture science

All jobs require a strong interest in the environment, conservation, or animal care and training. People working in these areas must be practical, be good at working with their hands and have a good level of fitness.

Students 16-18

If you are 16 and under 19 years of age on 1stSeptember in the year you begin your studies your tuition and qualification fee is free, provided you are a resident of the UK or European Community for three years (not on a student visa).

Students 19+

If you are aged 19 or over on 1 September in the year you begin your studies you are responsible for the payment of tuition, qualification fees and course expenses.
