Study Levels

Higher Education students enjoy a first class learning experience within a stimulating and supportive atmosphere led by highly experienced and qualified lecturers.

Higher Education courses at The Isle of Wight College offer you the opportunity to study at a university level and provide excellent career pathways.

Our focus on high quality programmes, which are affordable and eliminate the expense of travelling or relocation, give you the opportunity to achieve the skills and qualifications you need to succeed.

The courses are validated and quality assured by regional universities and national professional bodies meaning you will study to high academic standards. This results in graduates having excellent employment prospects and opportunities for promotion as The College works closely with business and industry.

If you wish to develop your potential and become a leader within your chosen field there are a range of study options available to you. This includes full time Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Foundation Degrees (FdA) or part time Foundation Degrees (FdA), Higher National Certificates (HNC) as well as a range of professional qualifications.

The current provision includes Accounting, Business, Childcare, Computing, Engineering, Graphic Design, Management and Teacher Education. These courses can offer opportunities for both school leavers (18 or older) and mature students.

Many of our recent graduates have gone on to achieve first class honours degrees.

Academic Quality

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is responsible for safeguarding standards and improving the quality of higher education.

In May 2013 QAA conducted a review the Isle of Wight College’s Higher Education offer. The core aim of this review is to examine whether institutions offering higher education provide higher education qualifications of an appropriate academic standard and a student experience of acceptable quality.

The review established that the Isle of Wight College met UK standards. The findings of the review and action plan can be accessed below:
