The Isle of Wight College Principal, Debbie Lavin receives CBE
College Principal, Debbie Lavin has been made a CBE by HRH Queen Elizabeth II in a service held at Buckingham Palace. Ms Lavin, who was named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours was recognised for her services to education.
After the investiture and a brief conversation with the Queen, Ms Lavin returned to her seat next to Roxy Music frontman, Bryan Ferry who also received a CBE at the same ceremony.
Speaking after the investiture ceremony Ms Lavin, who has accompanied by her husband and son, said she was “absolutely thrilled”.
“I am immensely proud but at the same time it’s overwhelming and humbling. I accepted this honour on behalf of my college – staff and students. It is about what we have achieved collectively”.
