IWCollege.ac.uk : New Website Launched
After months of hard work and development, The Isle of Wight College is pleased to launch our awesome, new & improved website.
Our new site has been designed to provide a fast, media-rich browsing experience, making it easier to find courses, careers advice and College information across many different platforms/devices (such as smart phones, tablets, games consoles etc…).
Our new website will also serve as a foundation for exciting new projects coming up in the near future, you can stay up to date with the latest College news & announcements by following us on Facebook and Twitter, or subscribe to The College News Feed (RSS).
New Features
- Visuals have been revamped to complement the prospectus
- Site performance is much more efficient with lower load times compared to the previous site
- A simpler, more streamlined navigation, making easier to find the information you want
- Better search tools & functionality, and the ability to search by tags/keywords, not just course/subject titles
- Tighter integration with social networks, providing the ability to share our content to your social network of choice
- New accessibility features, alongside a style switcher to convert the site/page into a more readable format if required
- Better support for alternative devices {phones, tablets, consoles and suchlike}
- The ability use media in course sheets and subject area pages, such as image galleries, embedded videos, mp3/audio files etc…
- Nicely formatted pages when printed out
- The site supports multi-language translation on-the-fly via Google translate.
- Blog feeds for College news {which users can subscribe to via RSS readers}
- Events manager to promote up & coming open days/college events
- Users can subscribe to the college eNewsletter to stay up to date with the latest news from The College
- A tagging system to provide users with a ‘You may also like’ feature by grouping similar subjects together
We’ve worked hard to make our website accessible and easy to use but we know that it’s an ongoing job and we welcome comments or suggestions on how we can improve our website.
